It’s Wednesday. I have been out of work since Monday. I have some sort of strange fluish kidney infection that has my whole body aching. I feel better today than I did but I have to go to the doctor to get an excuse before I can go back to work. I need to go to the Dr. anyway since it has been so long.
So here is a quiz for you: What is harder to do, get a Drs. Appointment when you have insurance in Eastman, or get a Drs. Appointment when you don’t have insurance in Eastman?
The answer: No Insurance.
Yesterday while trying to get an appointment, I called my regular Dr. to get an appointment, they asked me what kind of insurance I have, I told them Aetna PPO, they don’t get paid by Aetna, so I told them I would call the only Dr. in town that accepts Aetna. I call this Dr. that I don’t know, and find out that they will not accept any more patients. So the only Dr. that could see me for 15$ wont. I call my old family Dr. back, ask them if I can just write them a check for the full amount and they say, get this now, this might blow you the fuck away; they say “we can’t do that,” I say “why not, I can write you a check,” she said “we can’t accept you without insurance because you have insurance,” I say “your kidding me right, this is a joke’” she says “no, we can’t see you,” I say “alright!”
Who in the hell ever heard of that shit, Drs won’t work for cash now?
I call the insurance company; they give me two Drs in Cochran to try. The first one has a disconnected number. The second one I call, they can take me, but they can’t see me till today at 3:40, so I miss a whole extra day of work (even though I really didn’t feel like going this morning, I still feel bad, but my kidneys don’t hurt as bad. Let’s just hope this doc is easy to find, and nice, and keeps my shit confidential because I need to talk to him about my anxiety lately too.
What sucks is that they were Uber busy at work Monday and Tuesday, today is the only day that they won’t need me. Shelly was freaking out about it on Monday but when I called her last night she was cool with it. Scared me into thinking they are gonna use a needle or some shit like that.
Anyway let’s hope I don’t have some rare jungle disease
