Original post below:

Cleaning up Entrecard Contest!

The purpose of this contest is to get those bad blogs lingering around with Terms of Service or Blog Quality Standards violations out of entrecard.

Before we get started as to how you will enter and how the winner will be chosen and how the winner(s) will be rewarded…

You must dust off the old Terms of Service and Blog Quality Standards of Entrecard.

Please read them before continuing if you are not previously familiar.

To enter this contest you must:

  1. Be an entrecard member.
  2. Be familiar with the Blog Quality Standards and the Terms of Service.
  3. Know how to report a user for a terms of service offense.

Now, lets go through this shall we.

1. – Register (If you not already a user)
a. Get approved (If you are not already approved)
2. Click the ‘Blog Quality Standards’ link above.
3. First you must find a blog that has something wrong.
a. In the case of auto-audio, not english, no recent content, etc. you would find their widget, and click the entrecard logo (will take you to their profile page) located on their profile page you will find thisAnd enter in the reason. This can be in the form of rule number, or your worded version of the violation.

4. Here is where it gets tricky. If you do not find a widget. Now, the best way to report a blog without a widget is to back track to their profile page. (If that is how you got there) however, if they have dropped on you and the only way to go is to follow the link to their site from your inbox, you must hover and wait for a name. (This will only work in the inbox rss feed on top of your dashboard. ) Then write down the title, and go to the campaign page, search for the blog’s title, go to their profile page and report them for ‘No Widget’.

Please before you send any reports. The ‘feedback’ function will not be counted. The valid entries must be Terms of Service reports. (Theres a huge difference)

So, what determines a ‘Valid Entry’? A valid entry is an offense that is persecutable by either “Warning” or a “Deletion”.

How will you be scored? Every ‘Warning’ counts as 1 point and Every ‘Deletion’ counts as 2 points.

The winners will be rewarded by the following in the order of highest points:

  1. 10,000 Entrecard Credits
  2. 5,000 Entrecard Credits
  3. 2,500 Entrecard Credits
  4. 1,000 Entrecard Credits
  5. 1,000 Entrecard Credits
  6. 1,000 Entrecard Credits
  7. 1,000 Entrecard Credits
  8. 1,000 Entrecard Credits
  9. 1,000 Entrecard Credits
  10. 1,000 Entrecard Credits

The contest will begin : Thursday, March 12th, 2009
The winners will be announced and rewarded: Thursday, March 19th, 2009.

Entries for the contest are only valid 3/12/09-3/19/09. Any and all reports of which are incorrect or spam entries will not be counted. The winner will be decided by totalling each user’s points as mentioned above.

Thank you and good luck.

No it’s not, the goal is to “play Obama”…

Get bent, do the job yourselves… You jokers volunteered, why pass the buck now? Y’all get the glory of the title, then relegate the grunt to the users?

You get your “Freethinking Carders” up and running, and maybe… I might… Sift through EC’s beatdown and staff ignored DB whilst I stumble through my inbox.

*pins douchebag of the day award to your lapel, congrats on that

This , i think, is where you remind me the most of myself….disagreeing just for the sake of it…just because you can…now I think I understand why people always thought I was such an asshole…because every chance I got, if there was something I could disagree with I would do it just for the hell of it. Oh well I reckon

      No on to my defense:

Obama? I think when people benefit from a free service they may be willing to pitch in and help out…Obama isn’t offering rewards for proficiency. The fact is we need other people to help us with this, we are offering a reward for that help on top of offering the completely free service of Entrecard.

We are already doing the jobs ourselves…one thing we need to do is get caught up with a massive amount of spam blogs that are hindering the entrecard experience because for a long time, quite frankly, they were ignored…right now we have 4 volunteer moderators and over 40,000 blogs to look though so that Entrecard can be better marketed and increase in value to both the user and outsiders that may be interested in joining.

We volunteered for this job, not for glory…because…well…there really isn’t any is there? If so I have yet to receive it…other than a few thank you’s and such (all of which I appreciate). There is no money involved, minimal glory, and a gigantic amount of headache and stress…WHY did we volunteer to do this? I can say from my conversations with the mods that we chose to do this because we believe the Entrecard is unrivaled in its potential to promote small time blogs and help them become respected blogs that are read all over the world…we want to see it succeed so that we and you can succeed.

We are not just relegating all the work to the users, most of the responsible and respected users already report terms violations daily…we just want to get everyone involved in improving the system as well as promote an understanding of our standards and terms. We are still doing a LOAD of work just for the sake of helping everyone…it won’t kill you to help us do that…if not…don’t help…no tears shed here

so who pissed in your cornflakes this morning?

  • You Said:

“so who pissed in your cornflakes this morning?”

    You Did!

I was on Yahoo Messenger whining about your lagging on the Freethinking Carders, and you never answered, so I came over here to add the cheese to it!

As for EC? Graham is still under the impression that one day Google is going to come to him with “hat in hand”, and a check for millions.

He is high… EC is nothing more than a manual TE, that requires more work. LOL

I am tempted to just the graphic for you, and send you the login and password to my mister linky, just so you can at least get off the ground!

Didn’t that award get given away on South Park already?

    P.S. You Said:

“disagreeing just for the sake of it…just because you can…”

Does that better secure my place here as “Resident Smart-Ass”? 🙂

Devil’s Advocate always garners the most attention son…

  • Well, I quite often report sites for TOS violations anyway (usually no widget or wrong widget) but it was nice to be reminded about the quality standards. “Content must be original” … oh, oh, oh I’m so going to have some fun with this. Power! Lovely, lovely power! And the audio and popups? I’d forgotten those were offences. Wonderful! Time to cleave my way through EC.

  • I think it’s good that bad, TOS-violating sites should be removed from the network, but I’m a bit worried it’ll turn everyone into grasses, snitches and downright unsavoury characters…

  • @hind….

That is why they are giving away worthless EC’s, to keep everyone from going mad, and going on a “reporting rage”.

Any other prize would turn it into a Sicilian Mafia/FBI rat fest…

Now… If we had our own “Gang”… Like a… “Freethinking Carders” type of underworld mafia, we would not have to fear these unsavory characters. But alas, our “Don” is a little slow with “this thing of ours”. 🙂

  • Joe

But part of the problem is this: perhaps it’s because I’m using IE, but I can’t find the EC on this blog. I am reasonably sure that you are playing by the rules, yet, should I report you when the error is probably on my end?

    • Matt

IE is your fault lol…IE is the least supported browser in the world….and the least secure too…so no, if you are using IE don’t report missing badges at all.
upgrade to firefox, for your own sake

  • Now it is forced to be above the fold, and forced 3rd party ads?

    Gone for good this time!

    graham is quite the idiot…

  • Well, I am getting RGM removed, but will keep this one on their network for now.

    No comment Mista Waffles?

You have no ideas on the pro’s or con’s of the new rule changes? You do represent them, what is your “official statement”?
